Vol. 203 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Northern Ireland Rail Cuts.

11.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power whether his attention has been drawn to the statements made on 23rd May, 1963, by the Northern Ireland Minister for Home Affairs with regard to the possibility of major cuts in rail services; and whether he has had any communication from the Northern Ireland authorities as to whether proposed cuts would affect lines which also serve areas in the Republic.

As I indicated in reply to the Deputy's previous question on 2nd May, 1963, the Benson Report has not yet been published. As soon as it is available, I will arrange to have it examined. I am satisfied that there will be no difficulty in arranging for discussions should it appear that its implementation would result in undesirable repercussions on our transport services.
