andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Education the total number of persons in the age group fourteen to eighteen years who might be considered eligible for secondary or vocational education.

The question of eligibility could be determined only by some test such as the primary school certificate or the entrance examination to a secondary or vocational school. Without applying such a test to every pupil over 14 years of age it would not be possible to answer the Deputies' question.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Education the total number of persons who availed themselves of secondary or vocational education in the age group fourteen to eighteen years during 1951, 1961 and 1962.
