Vol. 203 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Stamp Auction Cases: State Costs.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost to date to the State of proceedings in connection with Shanahan's Stamp Auctions and the various cases connected with them.

As I stated in reply to a similar question on 4th April, 1963, the total cost to the State to date is approximately £40,000. No further costs of a significant amount are expected to arise in connection with these proceedings.

Can the Minister state if as a result of these proceedings anyone got 1/- back of the money which they invested?

I have not got that information with me at the moment.

The gentleman concerned is in the Canary Islands on the proceeds.
