Vol. 203 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wicklow Fertiliser Factory.

33.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce how many men are at present employed on the erection of the fertiliser factory at Shelton Abbey, County Wicklow; whether he is in a position to state the estimated number which will ultimately be employed on this work; and the approximate rate per month at which men will be called-up for employment from now onwards.

I am informed that 85 men are at present employed on the erection of the fertiliser factory at Shelton Abbey and that employment at the peak, in 1964, is expected to be of the order of 400/500 workers. I have no information regarding the approximate monthly rate at which employment is expected to increase in the interim. The numbers employed will, of course, vary in accordance with progress on the civil engineering and plant erection work.
