Dáil Éireann debate -
Thursday, 20 Jun 1963

Vol. 203 No. 10

Houses of the Oireachtas: Address by President Kennedy—Motion.

I understand that Seanad Éireann has passed the following resolution:—

That Seanad Éireann concurs in the Resolution of Dáil Éireann communicated on the 20th June, 1963, that, to welcome the visit to Ireland of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the President of the United States of America, and to mark the event in a signal manner, it is expedient that a joint sitting of both Houses of the Oireachtas be held on Friday, the 28th June, 1963, in the Dáil Chamber and that the President of the United States of America be invited to address such a joint sitting.

I, therefore, move:

That, to welcome the visit to Ireland of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the President of the United States of America, and to mark the event in a signal manner, a joint sitting of both Houses of the Oireachtas be held on Friday, the 28th June, 1963, in the Dáil Chamber and that the President of the United States of America be invited to address such joint sitting; and that the time for such joint sitting be 4 p.m.

I support and second those proposals.

Question put and agreed to.
