Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Population Statistics.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Taoiseach the number of householders and the total population in each of the townlands of (a) Killeeneen Beg, Killeeneen More, Caherfurvaus, Caheradine and Shanbally in the electoral division of Killeely, (b) Carrigeen in the electoral division of Rahasane and (c) Rathbane and Coxtown in the electoral division of Shekanagh, County Galway.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Taoiseach the number of householders (a) under £20 valuation, (b) between £20 and £50 valuation and (c) over £50 in each of the townlands of (1) Killeeneen Beg, Killeeneen More, Caherfurvaus, Caheradine and Shanbally in the electoral division of Killeely, (2) Carrigeen in the electoral division of Rahasane, and (3) Rathbane and Coxtown in the electoral division of Shekanagh, County Galway.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to take Questions Nos. 1 and 2 together and to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing for each townland involved, information on the total population and number of private families, as returned at the Census of Population 1961. It has been necessary, in order to comply with the requirements of the Statistics Act 1926 in regard to confidentiality, to combine the data for certain of these townlands.

The information regarding the rateable valuation of all agricultural holdings in the State of which persons usually resident in the household are the rated occupiers has not been compiled for individual townlands.

Following is the statement:
