Vol. 203 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin-Skerries Telephone Service.

50.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that three different people in Skerries, County Dublin on 15th June last made a total of eighteen unsuccessful attempts to telephone three different Dublin telephone numbers on the automatic system between 10 a.m. and 11 p.m.; and if, as the difficulty experienced by those callers appears to be a frequent occurrence, he will state what steps are being taken to remedy the matter.

51.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a Dublin subscriber wasted thirty-five minutes on 14th June last in endeavouring unsuccessfully to call a Skerries, County Dublin subscriber by dialling on the automatic system and on 10; and if he will state the number of telephone lines between Dublin and Skerries, and the reason why the call was not put through.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 50 and 51 together. It is not possible to identify the calls in question from the information furnished. If the Deputy will supply the calling and called numbers I will have the matters investigated.

The number of telephone lines between Dublin and Skerries is 20. It is hoped to provide additional circuits in about 6 weeks' time and further additional circuits later this year.
