Vol. 204 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Medical Vacancies.

3.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the procedure for filling local authority medical vacancies pending the appointment of a permanent appointee.

Normally such appointments are advertised and the appointment is made from amongst the applicants. The Deputy will appreciate, however, that circumstances arise in which it is not possible to await advertisement and competition, e.g., following the sudden death of a dispensary doctor, and in such cases the local authority has to make interim arrangements without advertisement.
