Vol. 204 No. 2

Committee On Finance. - Registration of Business Names Bill, 1962: Sitting of Special Committee.

May I refer to an Order of the House made last night in connection with the Registration of Business Names Bill? The House decided to refer the Bill in Committee to the Special Committee already set up to deal with the Companies Bill. The date on which the Committee was mentioned in the Order as meeting was 10th July. I understand difficulty will inevitably arise now as a result of arrangements being made about sitting on that day. We cannot meet on that day because the Finance Bill will be taken.

So far as I am concerned, on the 9th, 10th and 11th, I shall be engaged on the Finance Bill all day and every day, but if the Minister wants the Committee to meet on Friday 12th, I am agreeable. I gather the Minister wants to get his Committee before the House rises?

It will take three sittings.

If the Deputy will agree to Friday 12th, it will suit my purpose.

I am perfectly happy about that. Can we discharge the Order made yesterday and fix it instead for Friday 12th?

Yes, if the House agrees.

Agreed and ordered accordingly.

Business suspended at 6.15 p.m. and resumed at 6.30 p.m.
