asked the Minister for Finance if he will state by counties (a) the number of applications received by the Agricultural Credit Corporation for loans without security under the scheme of unsecured loans for productive purpose up to 30th June, 1963; (b) the number of applicants who were successful; and (c) what steps have been taken by him to ensure that the loan facilities under this scheme have been brought to the notice of the farming community.

(b) 820 applicants were successful. (Particulars of the number of successful applicants by counties are not readily available.) Of the total 115 did not come under the terms of the scheme and were dealt with as ordinary loans, 243 applications are awaiting decision or lapsed and 209 were refused.
(c) As the scheme is administered by the Agricultural Credit Corporation, the question of ensuring that the loan facilities available under the scheme are brought to the notice of the farming community is one for that body.
