Vol. 204 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Old IRA: Old Age Pension Means Test.

37.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether in the case of Old IRA men the means test in respect of old age pensions is waived.

There is no means test for old age contributory pension. The means test in respect of non-contributory old age pension is not waived in the case of old IRA men but the first £80 of allowances or pensions under the Army or Military Service Pensions Acts is ignored in the calculation of yearly means for old age pension purposes. If the remaining means do not exceed £52. 10. in the case of a single man, or £105 in the case of a married man, the full rate of pension is payable.
