Vol. 204 No. 5

Written Answer. - Meath Telephone Service.

43.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, as an attempt to relieve the congestion which exists in County Meath at present with the consequential disruption of business, he will give favourable consideration to the transfer from the Navan exchange of lines from Trim.

Adoption of the Deputy's suggestion would not be practicable nor would it achieve the service improvements desired. The standard of service to Trim subscribers will be much improved when additional outlets are provided within the next three months. The number of circuits will be increased as follows:

Dublin-An Uaimh

from 23 to 28

Drogheda-An Uaimh

from 10 to 31

Dublin-Drogheda

from 41 to 60

Plans for further development include a co-axial cabling scheme from Dublin to An Uaimh. It is expected that the first instalment of circuits under this scheme will be available in little more than a year's time.
