Vol. 204 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Malahide (Dublin) Speed Limit.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that no speed limit has been determined for the main streets of Malahide, County Dublin; and if he will now take appropriate steps for the imposition of these limits, owing to the large number of adults and children resident in and visiting Malahide during the holiday season.

I am so aware. The technical committee set up in County Dublin did not recommend the imposition of a speed limit in Malahide; neither did the county council.

As I have indicated in reply to previous questions on the subject of speed limits, the operation of the regulations will be kept under annual review and it is open to interested persons to suggest amendments to the local authority for consideration by the technical committee in due course.

Would the Minister say when he contemplates that the first review of these regulations will take place?

Pretty soon—before the end of this year.
