Vol. 204 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - OECD Convention on Nuclear Energy.

21.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if, further to a reply of 4th December, 1962, he is now in a position to state whether it is proposed to accede to the OECD Convention on third party liability in the field of nuclear energy; and, if so, when.

The question of this country's accession to the OECD Convention on Third Party Liability in the Field of Nuclear Energy is still being examined.

There are problems of possible conflict between some of the provisions of this Convention and our domestic legislation which will have to be resolved before a decision on accession is taken. As the Deputy may be aware, the Convention has not yet entered into force.
