18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce (1) the total number of new industries established in this country over the past ten years; (2) the number set up in each county borough area; and (3) the number set up in each county area.

The number of new industries and extensions to existing industries which have come to notice as having commenced production in the ten-year period 1953 to 1962, inclusive, is 815, comprising 465 new enterprises and 350 extensions to existing enterprises. A break-down of this figure by counties and county boroughs is given in a tabular statement which, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to have circulated with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:
