Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Dublin Water Supply Scheme.

59.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position of the dispute regarding the extraction of water from the Liffey at Leixlip for the North Dublin regional water supply scheme; and if legislative proposals are now in preparation.

I am not aware of any dispute regarding the abstraction of water at Leixlip for the North Dublin regional water supply scheme. A legal difficulty arose in regard to the power of the Electricity Supply Board to grant Dublin County Council the right to abstract water. Legislative proposals to overcome this difficulty are in course of preparation.
