Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ratification of European Social Charter.

4.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether, following a reply of 18th July, 1963, the preparation of legislation necessary to bring this country's domestic law into conformity with the European Social Charter has advanced so that Ireland's ratification of the Charter can be expected soon.

The question of legislative measures that may be necessary in connection with the ratification of the European Social Charter is still under consideration in the relevant Government Department.

The Government intend to ratify the Charter as soon as possible. As the Deputy is probably aware, only three member governments of the Council of Europe have done so to date.
