Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Welfare of Irish Emigrants in Britain.

5.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is aware of the grave need for expansion of welfare work and facilities for newly arrived Irish emigrants in Britain and of the difficulties facing voluntary organisations catering for this need by reason of lack of funds; and if he is prepared to grant financial assistance to them.

The Government's attitude towards the grant of financial assistance to voluntary organisations in Britain, referred to by the Deputy, was explained by the Minister for External Affairs on 4th April, 1963, during the debate on the 1963-64 Estimate for his Department.

The attitude of the Government has not altered in the meantime.

Question No. 6 postponed.
