Vol. 205 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Stamp Vending Machines.

38.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of three-penny and penny stamp-vending machines in stock in Departmental stores; and whether it is proposed to install four-penny stamp-vending machines, having regard to the fact that fourpence is the current charge for letters.

There are ten three-penny and eight penny stamp-vending machines held as a reserve stock.

It is not proposed to introduce machines to issue four-penny stamps, as such machines would not meet the requirements of the public as fully as the existing units which permit of the stamping of postcards, printed papers and newspapers as well as letters.
