asked the Minister for Education what progress has been made in South-West Cork in (a) building new schools, (b) reconstruction of schools, and (c) planning and arrangements for further progress.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to circulate for inclusion in the Official Report a statement giving the information requested by the Deputy.

Following is the statement:

SOUTH-WEST CORK

NATIONAL SCHOOLS.

New Schools:

Castletownbere ConventMaultrahaneClonakilty Infant Boys

These schools have been completed since September, 1962.

LisavairdLisbealad and St. Mary's Girls and Infants, Dunmanway

These schools are in course of erection.

UrhanDrinagh Boys and GirlsKnockskeaghGlandora/Reenagowna

Grants have been sanctioned for the erection of these schools: contracts have not yet been placed.

Rooamore

Plans have been prepared: Grant stage not reached.

Sites have been offered. Office of Public Works have been asked to prepare sketch plans if sites are suitable.

Renovations and Improvements.

Schull Boys

Grant has been sanctioned. Contract has not yet been placed.

Kilcolman

A scheme of improvement has been completed.

Grants have been sanctioned; contracts have not yet been placed.

Ballygurteen

Plans for an improvements scheme have been prepared; grant stage has not yet been reached.

VOCATIONAL SCHOOLS

Renovations and Improvements

Skibbereen

A building acquired by the County Cork Vocational Education Committee is being adapted for use as a girls' school.

Clonakilty

The proposed extension of the existing school by the provision of an additional classroom is in the final stage of planning.

Macroom

The Committee is at present considering the need for extending the school. No specific proposal is as yet before the Department.
