Vol. 205 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schull (Cork) Ice Plant.

19.

asked the Minister for Lands if the ice plant at Schull, County Cork has been in operation and production, and, if not, why; and if he will indicate what proposals he has in mind for the development of the fishing industry in the Schull district.

I understand from An Bord Iascaigh Mhara that their plant at Schull has not been in operation for some time owing to lack of local demand for ice and lack of local supplies of fish for processing. However, the appropriate utilisation of this plant is under consideration by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara at present.

The incentives outlined in the Governments' Programme of Sea Fisheries Development apply in Schull district as elsewhere.
