Written Answers. - Local Government Superannuation Appeals.

78.

asked the Minister for Local Government what decisions, if any, he has made in connection with appeals lodged under the Local Government (Superannuation) Act, 1956 by the following servants, i.e. road workers, of Donegal County Council: (1) Mr. John Duffy, 212, Rosullighe, Letterkenny, County Donegal, appeal dated 28th March 1963: (2) Mr. John Porter, Edenmore, Ballindrait, County Donegal, appeal dated 14th May, 1963; (3) Mr. John Peoples, Drumaskeogh, Ballymaleek, County Donegal, appeal dated 1st July 1963; and (4) Mr. Hugh Gallagher, Drumleen, Ballindrait, County Donegal, appeal dated 1st July 1963.

These appeals have been the subject of correspondence with the local authority. As a result the local authority have decided to revise their decisions in three of the cases. In the remaining case, that of Mr. Porter, the local authority are prepared to make an award, provided satisfactory medical evidence is furnished by him. It is expected that, in view of the revised decisions of the local authority, formal statutory decisions by me on the appeals will not be necessary.
