Vol. 205 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Legal Diary.

28.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that on several days, including 25th October, 30th October and 8th November last, the Legal Diary was not delivered until the afternoons of these days; if he will state the times and locations at which the Diary for those days was posted; and if, having regard to the importance of delivery of the Diary punctually before sittings of the court in respect of which it is published, he will have special steps taken to ensure punctual delivery.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. I have received no complaints of delay.

The Legal Diary for the dates mentioned was collected from the premises of the printers in the course of a 10.30 p.m. collection the previous nights. Due course delivery was by first post next morning. Any items underpaid would be due for second delivery that day.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state in respect of issues of the Legal Diary delivered by the postal service on 8th November, 1963 the number in respect of which the addressees were required to pay 4d., because of the failure of the senders to affix a postage stamp.

I am unable to give the information required as no record is kept of surcharged postal packets.
