asked the Minister for Justice what is the position regarding the provision of a new Garda station in Oughterard, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is proposed to erect a new station and houses for married members at this centre. The Commissioners of Public Works have informed me that because of the price sought for a site which had been selected for this purpose, they are now exploring the possibility of a acquiring a smaller site for the new station and a separate site for the houses.

asked the Minister for Justice what is the position regarding a new Garda station at Clifden, County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The erection of a new Garda station and houses for married members of the Force at this centre has been approved. The Commissioners of Public Works have informed me that the legal formalities in connection with the purchase of the site selected are nearing completion. Plans for the new buildings will be put in hands as soon as possible.
