Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin City Ambulance Services.

15.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that the ambulance services in the City of Dublin are inadequate to assist poor persons in need of such services; and if he will take steps to improve them.

I cannot accept the proposition that the ambulance services in the city of Dublin are inadequate to assist poor persons in need of such services. I am advised by the Dublin Health Authority that in all cases where an ambulance is requested by a medical officer for the transport of a medical card holder or his dependants to a hospital or clinic, arrangements are made for such ambulance transport free of charge to the patient. As, however, this is a matter for the health authority in the first instance, I would suggest that if the Deputy can adduce evidence that the services are inadequate he should take it up directly with the health authority.
