Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of County Wexford River.

46.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, further to his statement of 9th July, 1963, that he expected to be in a position to announce a decision with regard to the Assaly River, Killinick, County Wexford, within the following three weeks, he will now state the present position with regard to the drainage of this river.

I am sorry to have to inform the Deputy that the engineers of the Office of Public Works have not so far been able to devise a satisfactory drainage scheme for the Assaly River within economic limits of cost. I am having a final look at the position.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary be able to say when he might be able to announce a final decision?

I could announce it this minute but it would be bad. I promised I would make an announcement last July. I did not promise it would be done.
