Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundrum (Tipperary) Dispensary.

9.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state the reason for the delay in erecting a dispensary at Dundrum, County Tipperary; and if, in view of the grave hardships which people needing the services of a doctor must undergo by remaining outside the dispensary door in inclement weather, he will take immediate steps to have a new dispensary erected which will be adequate for the needs of the doctor and his patients.

As explained in reply to the Deputy's previous question, the provision of a new dispensary at Dundrum, Tipperary South Riding, is a matter for the local health authority. I understand that some further delay was experienced by the health authority in obtaining clear possession of the site which held up their advertising for tenders for the work; also when tenders were subsequently received the health authority found it necessary to communicate with the lowest tenderer in order to clarify certain details of his tender. The health authority has decided to accept this tender and is now taking steps to complete the contract formalities for the carrying out of the work.
