Vol. 205 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Newport (Tipperary) Bog Drainage.

12.

asked the Minister for Finance what schemes his Department have under consideration for bog drainage in the Newport area, County Tipperary.

Two bog drainage proposals in the electoral division of Newport have recently been under consideration under the Rural Improvements Scheme, namely, application No. 469, in the townlands of Shower and Annaholty, applied for by Patrick Egan, Pound Street, Newport, and application No. 478, in the townland of Shower, applied for by John Lee, Main Street, Newport. Grants have been refused for these works because of the danger of causing increased flooding in the outfall known as the Brook or the Bunkey River.
