Vol. 206 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - American-Irish Foundation.

27.

asked the Minister for External Affairs if he is now in a position to give details of the proposed American-Irish Foundation, stating the capital involved and details of the personnel responsible for initiating the Foundation; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The American-Irish Foundation was incorporated in New York on the 17th June, 1963. A copy of the Articles of Association, or Certificate of Incorporation as they are referred to in the United States, has been placed in the Library of the Oireachtas.

At the time of incorporation, the Honorary co-Chairmen were the late President John Fitzgerald Kennedy and President de Valera. The Directors of the Foundation are Daniel F. Cohalan, John Coleman, James Cummins, Roger Faherty, James Farley, Joseph Gannon and Thomas J. Kiernan.

As has already been indicated, the Government have decided to introduce in the current financial year a Supplementary Estimate for the purpose of giving a capital contribution of £10,000 to the Foundation.
