Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fencing of County Kildare Land.

31.

asked the Minister for Lands the cause of the delay in putting up the fencing around the lands given to the tenants at the Kings Common, Kildare; and when it is expected that the Land Commission will start this work.

This substantial property was purchased and allotted by the Land Commission earlier this year mainly in order to facilitate claimants of grazing rights by regularising the unsatisfactory position which had obtained for many years. A considerable part of the lands had to be allotted as a commonage. Fencing of allotments was deferred until such time as allottees would be free to assist in the work. The necessary materials have already been moved to the estate and it is hoped that fencing operations will commence within the next week.
