Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Broadcasting of Herring Landings.

34.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in order to help the distributing trade for fish, he will arrange to have the herring landings at each port, during the herring fishing season, included in the morning and evening news bulletins from Radio Éireann and Telefís Éireann each day.

As the Deputy may be aware, this information is now being given by Radio Éireann after the Dublin fish market report following the 10 a.m. news. The morning broadcast, which gives particulars of herring landings of the previous day as provided by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara, was first made on 21st November 1963. When this broadcast has been tried out for some time, the question of broadcasting similar information after the announcements between 6.20 and 6.30 p.m. can be further examined.
