Question has been raised by both the county councils concerned as to damage alleged to have been caused to various roads by contractors supplying materials to State forest properties. My Department has no liability and liability would attach to the contractor only if such damage were extraordinary. Without prejudice, however, to the legal position, a suggestion by Leitrim County Council that the Department should contribute to the cost of repair in one instance is under consideration.
