Vol. 206 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Thomas MacDonagh Plaque.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he will give financial assistance to the present scheme to put up a commemoration plaque on the birthplace of Thomas MacDonagh in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary; and whether he will initiate a scheme to have similar plaques put up on the birthplaces, where known, of all the signatories of the 1916 Declaration of Independence.

On receipt of particulars of the scheme to erect a commemorative plaque at the birthplace of Thomas MacDonagh in Cloughjordan, County Tipperary, I will be prepared to consider favourably giving financial assistance towards this scheme. I cannot undertake to initiate schemes to erect commemorative plaques at the birthplaces of the other signatories of the 1916 Declaration, but I would be prepared to consider favourably contributing thereto.
