When the current national drive for the improvement of water supply and sewerage services was launched in 1959 a total expenditure of £35 million was envisaged on public schemes. Of this amount some £30 million was referable to water supply schemes. At 30th September last the total value of schemes comprised in the various county programmes was estimated at £36.5 million, of which £27.8 million was referable to water supply schemes.
There is, therefore, no ground whatever for the suggestion in the latter part of the question.
