Vol. 207 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Dispensary.

18.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that, because of inadequate and defective heating facilities in Ballyfermot Dispensary, Dublin, many sick people are compelled to sit for lengthy periods in cold rooms; and if he will ensure that remedial action is taken immediately.

I am informed by the Dublin Health Authority that the heating system in Ballyfermot dispensary, which is normally adequate, broke down in December last. A standby heating unit was brought into use. This did not provide an adequate temperature in the premises until early afternoon. The heating in the dispensary in the mornings during this period was unsatisfactory.

The normal heating system was repaired on 18th December last and I am informed that it is since functioning satisfactorily.
