Vol. 207 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Naas Dispensary Doctor.

4.

asked the Taoiseach when the Local Appointments Commission were asked to obtain a dispensary medical officer for Naas dispensary, County Kildare; the date on which they have issued advertisements for such position; the date on which interviews have taken place; and when the Commission hope to be able to recommend an appointee.

The Local Appointments Commissioners were asked on the 19th July last to recommend a person for appointment as district medical officer for the Naas and Caragh dispensary district. The position was advertised on the 21st of this month. It is hoped to hold the interviews as soon as possible after the latest date for the receipt of applications, which is the 7th of next month, and to recommend a person for appointment as soon as possible after that.

In explanation of the delay that has taken place in advertising this vacancy, I should mention that it is the practice of the Local Appointments Commissioners to advertise vacancies for these district medical officers in groups—for one reason, so as to allow candidates who intend to apply for more than one vacancy to have all their applications dealt with at one interview and thus save the time and expense that would otherwise be involved for candidates in attending several separate interviews. The present vacancy was included in the first group of vacancies advertised since the 19th July last.
