Vol. 207 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Report on Itinerancy.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government what progress has been made in the Departmental examination of the Report on Itinerancy; and if he is now in a position to state when the examination will be completed.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he has completed his consideration of the Report of the Commission on Itinerants; and whether he will now take steps to implement the recommendations of the Commission with regard to the provision of permanent caravan sites with sanitary facilities for itinerants.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 39 and 40 together.

The Report of the Commission on Itinerancy is receiving detailed study by my Department and by the other Departments concerned but it is not possible to say when examination of the recommendations will be completed.

The question of provision by the local sanitary authorities of camping sites for itinerants is being considered in common with the other recommendations of the Commission.
