Vol. 207 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Farm Apprenticeship Scheme.

17.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he has any plans for the institution of a farm apprenticeship scheme.

The Government has approved, on an experimental basis, of a scheme of farm apprenticeship to be operated by a Board representative of a number of rural organisations. My Department will provide financial awards for persons who complete their apprenticeship and pass prescribed tests with special merit. The Department will also pay contributions towards fees and travelling expenses of apprentices attending short annual courses of instruction at an agricultural college.
