The total net indebtedness of local authorities, excluding harbour authorities, vocational education committees and county committees of agriculture, at 31st March, 1963, was estimated to be £159,441,000. The amount paid in interest on stocks and loans by these local authorities in the year ended 31st March, 1963, was estimated to be £7,505,000.
