Vol. 207 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Tipperary Cottage Sites.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government the number of sites for cottage erection submitted to his Department by South Tipperary County Council for sanction since January 1963 stating in each case the date of submission, the date of sanction if given, and the present position if not yet sanctioned.

Two compulsory purchase orders which provide for the acquisition of 50 cottage sites were received in my Department from South Tipperary County Council since January, 1963. No proposals for the acquisition of sites by agreement were received. The Council's Compulsory Purchase (Labourers Acts) No. 1 Order, 1963, containing 23 cottage sites, was received on 19th August, 1963. A public local inquiry was held on 28th November, 1963, to consider objections to the Order. The evidence submitted at the inquiry and the report of the Inspector who held the inquiry are at present being examined and I hope to be in a position to convey a decision on the Order to the local authority very shortly.

The second Order, entitled Tipperary (South Riding) Compulsory Purchase (Labourers Acts) No. 2 Order, 1963, was received on the 29th November, 1963. Objections were received in respect of 24 of the 27 cottage sites involved and it will be necessary to hold a public local inquiry to consider these objections. Arrangements are being made for the inquiry.
