Vol. 207 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Land Allotment.

43.

asked the Minister for Lands why Mr. John Carroll, Sopwell, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary was passed over when the division of twenty-two acres of land from the Trench Estate, Sopwell, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary took place.

I have ascertained from the Land Commission that the area available for disposal on this estate, namely, 40 acres, was utilised to enlarge two local uneconomic holdings of persons mainly dependent on farming for a livelihood. Mr. Carroll's application was fully considered by the Commissioners in competition with the other applications received by them but, having regard to the limited acreage available and other considerations, it was not possible to provide allotments other than those decided on.
