Vol. 207 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Garda Housing.

60.

asked the Minister for Justice what progress has now been made in the building of houses for members of the Garda Síochána in Nenagh, Templemore, Roscrea and Thurles, County Tipperary.

Seventeen houses have been completed at Templemore and ten more will be ready for occupation in the next few weeks. Construction work on eight houses at Thurles is well advanced and completion is expected by the end of May. Tenders have been invited for the erection of five houses at Nenagh and three at Roscrea. There is activity for you.

Will the Minister build any houses for the guards in Waterford city?

Yes, and a fine new barracks.

The Minister did not answer my question. Is he going to build houses for the guards?

I should like to inform the Deputy that we have advertised for tenders for the erection of houses in Waterford. In addition, we hope to be in a position shortly to provide a modern, satisfactory centrally situated station for the accommodation of the gardaí there.

Deputy Lynch does not read the Waterford papers.

Question No. 61.

I read the Medical Journal. I suppose the Minister for Health reads the Medical Journal now.

Will the Deputy please allow someone to speak?

This is another sphere of Government activity in which there is action and progress.
