Vol. 207 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compensation for Jurors.

29.

asked the Minister for Justice if he is aware that in the matter of jury service grave hardship often results in the case of certain self-employed persons; and if he will consider providing compensation in cases where there is positive proof of such hardship.

The terms of reference of the Committee on Court Practice and Procedure include a general inquiry into how the convenience of the public could more effectively be served by making changes, by legislation or otherwise, in practice and procedure.

I propose to await the findings of the Committee in relation to juries before considering any amendment of the Juries Acts.
