Vol. 208 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Infringements of State Copyright.

17.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state with reference to a warning published by the Ordnance Survey Office in Iris Oifigiúil on 25th February last whether there have been any recent infringements of State copyright in maps, charts and plans; if so, the nature thereof; and if he will state the reason for publishing the warning at this time.

There have been some recent infringements of copyright in Ordnance Survey publications. The infringements took the form of the use by outside parties of such material for publication purposes without the consent of the Ordnance Survey and payment of the appropriate fees. The recent notice about copyright was published simply as a reminder to those already aware of the existence of such copyright as well as for the information of those unaware of it. There was no special reason for publishing the notice at this particular time.

Mr. Ryan

Is there any specific schedule of fees in respect of copying Ordnance Survey publications and, if so, where is it available ?

Yes, I believe there is.

Could the Minister give any indication what the fees are ?

I am afraid I could not.
