Vol. 208 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cross-Border Road.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance his decision on a request by people on both sides of the Border to have the Castlefin-Castlederg road, known as Kilclean road, opened to vehicular traffic; and if he has had any communications from the British authorities in this regard.

As I have intimated in answer to several recent questions about cross-Border customs facilities, I still have the general question of the approval of additional roads under consideration. I will bear in mind the claim for approval of the Castlefin-Castlederg road.

Arrangements have been made for early discussions between the Revenue Commissioners and the British customs authorities on the general question of improved cross-Border facilities.

Rumour has it in Donegal that officials from the British authorities have been in contact with the Department of Finance, the Revenue Commissioners. Would the Minister deny or confirm this rumour?

In my reply to the Deputy, I have said that.
