Vol. 208 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drunken Driving Tests.

56.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he intends to implement the proposals for blood or other tests for those believed to be driving while under the influence of drink; and, if so, when.

As announced in connection with the publication of the Report of the Commission on Driving while under the Influence of Drink or a Drug in October last, the Government have accepted the general import of the Commission's recommendations and a Bill will be prepared to implement such decisions as the Government may take on the detailed aspects of the Report. I am not in a position at this stage to indicate when a Bill will be introduced.

Are the Government doing anything about all the accidents on the roads at present?

What is the Deputy doing about them?

The Deputy is not the Government.
