Vol. 208 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Garda Station.

112.

Mr. Ryan

andMr. Clinton asked the Minister for Justice the precise location on Ballyfermot Road, Dublin, chosen as a site for a new Garda station; whether it has yet been bought; and, if so, the price paid for the site.

The site is on the northern side of the road about 400 feet west of Le Fanu Road and is bounded on the west by Bóthar Drom Finn and on the east by a pedestrian way leading from the cul-de-sac end of Ascal Ros Mór. It has not yet been acquired.

Mr. Ryan

This will be known locally as opposite the Gala Cinema?

I have given a complete description of the site.

Mr. Ryan

I am most grateful to the Minister, I shall measure it out tonight.

I always endeavour courteously to meet the Deputy's enquiries.

Mr. Ryan

I am deeply touched.

113.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Justice the date upon which his Department decided upon a particular site for a new Garda station at Ballyfermot, Dublin; and the date upon which the Dublin Corporation were notified of the selection.

This information has already been given in reply to Question No. 26 on today's Order Paper.

Mr. Ryan

Would the Minister like to apologise to the House for misleading the House in his reply into believing that I was challenging Dublin Corporation and saying that they would not give the information at a time when they were not aware of it?

I should be immediately willing to apologise if I felt any apology were called for. As the Deputy knows, I am quite certain, however, that the information I gave to the House in reply to his question last week was absolutely accurate.

Mr. Ryan

No doubt the Minister, in his usual courteous manner, did not intend to mislead but the best of us can make mistakes.
