Vol. 208 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - William Street (Limerick) Garda Station.

38.

asked the Minister for Justice what plans he has for the replacement of the Garda station in William Street, Limerick; and what progress has been made with any such plans.

The Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Finance has informed me that a site for the erection of a new Garda station to replace the premises at William Street, Limerick, is under examination.

Has the Minister any idea when he will be prepared to go ahead with the scheme, as this barracks is in a very dangerous position? Would he give us any idea of the location of the new barracks?

The only thing I can tell the Deputy is that what appeared to us to be a very satisfactory solution of the difficulty has not unfortunately in the ultimate proved to be feasible and, as the Deputy probably knows, it is very difficult to procure a suitable site in Limerick city.
