asked the Minister for Education if he is aware that Laois Vocational Education Committee granted an increase of five shillings per week to all caretakers of vocational schools in the county; and that after granting this increase the national wage agreement of twelve per cent increase was announced; if he will now consider giving sanction to the Committee's intention of increasing the pay of such employees by twelve per cent in addition to the five shillings per week which was previously granted; and if he will treat the matter as one of special urgency.

The County Laois Vocational Education Committee granted wage increases of 6/8d. and 3/4d. per week respectively to its whole-time and part-time caretakers in March last. I am not aware of any intention on the part of the Committee to grant a further increase.
