Vol. 209 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - River Suir Drainage.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the arterial drainage of the River Suir is an urgent matter, in view of the damage caused by recent flooding from Clonmel to Carrick-on-Suir; and if he will take steps to complete the necessary preliminary surveys for this drainage at an early date and to bring forward the date for the commencement of the drainage work as far as possible.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question on 5th February, 1964. I too am anxious that the drainage of the Suir catchment should be started with a minimum of delay but because of the great volume of preparatory work still to be done, I can see no hope of a start before 1970.
